Purpose: This research project explores how multiracial students experience a sense of belonging in college spaces, particularly in Ethnic Studies classes and cultural clubs. The purpose of this study is to better understand the unique experiences, challenges, and affirmations that multiracial students face when engaging in these environments.
Participant Criteria:
- You identify as multiracial
- You have attended or currently attending a college and/or a community college
- At least 18 years old
Time Commitment: The survey should take approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.
Confidential & Anonymous: Your responses will be kept completely confidential and anonymous. We will not ask for any information that could identify you personally. All answers you provide will be combined with those from other participants when we analyze the data. In any reports or presentations about this research, no individual responses will be identifiable.
Voluntary Participation: Your participation is entirely voluntary. You do not have to take this survey, and if you do participate, you can stop at any time. You may also skip any question that you prefer not to answer. There are no penalties or negative consequences for choosing not to participate or for withdrawing before completing the survey. We appreciate any time you are willing to give, and there are no right or wrong answers – we want to hear about your experiences in your own words.
Research Supervision: This research is being conducted by a student researcher as part of a project at University of California - Santa Barbara, under the guidance of Professor Adanari Zarate. The faculty supervisor is overseeing this study to ensure that it meets all ethical and academic standards. This means the project has been reviewed and approved to make sure it respects your rights as a participant.
